How many times can I start a blog with the words, “What a year 2020 has been!”?
It’s been tough, it’s been stressful, anxiety inducing and at times, really quite depressing.
But, thank God for an unusually hot British summer that saw us all getting far more time with our families, taking our daily exercise, reading more, eating al fresco, quizzing, boozing and stepping onto our doorsteps for a family photo!
It may have been a slightly unusual prospect, and certainly not one that I’d ever entertained before, but needs must!
I wanted to shoot, I wanted to chat, I wanted to bring a little joy!
And I think all of those were achieved with the Lockdown Doorstep Portraits 2020 Project!
Not only did local families get some beautiful photos to remember the positives of this crazy time but we managed to cobble together a pretty decent donation to The Trussell Trust Food Bank in Erdington, a very worthy recipient of your kind donations.

It was so lovely getting out and about and catching up with all of you! Some of you I already knew well, some I hadn’t seen for ages and I got to meet lovely new families too. All of whom, I hope, will be back for more family photos in the future, when we’re allowed out again!
Some of you had older children back home and it was the perfect opportunity to get a long overdue photo together.
Some had doorstep birthday parties with balloons and cakes and fizz!
A couple of families had newborns, and others were about to pop!

I couldn’t have us missing out on Lockdown Doorstep Portraits 2020, so here we are – me, the boy and the wee one!
On our own little doorstep in the summer of 2020 – tired, a bit grey, wedding-less but healthy and happy! (And isn’t that the best thing we can ask for this year? 🙂 )

I’m now offering family shoots away from your front door!
If you’d like to find out more and book your session, drop me a line using my contact page and let me know your story!
