2025 – The Weird and Wonderful Year of Weddings
Let’s be honest from the start, 2025 wasn’t my busiest year behind the camera.
But … It might have been one of my favourites.
The weddings I did shoot were completely my kind of weddings. Relaxed. Loud. Emotional. Dancefloor-heavy and zero nonsense.
The kind of days where my lovely couples cared more about their people than perfection, and trusted me to tell the story exactly as it happened.

And when I wasn’t photographing weddings? I didn’t sit around waiting for emails. I was busy doing something pretty fantastic… training as a wedding registrar in Staffordshire.
Yep. On the days I wasn’t shooting the photos, I was signing the paperwork that makes you legally, officially, absolutely a two-some.
This year has been one helluva journey! Keep scrolling to hear that story!

A Midlands Wedding Photographer (Still Very Happy to Travel Anywhere)
I’m based in the Midlands, but 2025 still had me clocking up miles across the UK, photographing weddings that felt personal, joyful and very much not cookie-cutter.
Whether it was an intimate barn wedding, a full-blown party in a field, or a couple who just wanted to get married their way and crack on with celebrating, my approach stayed the same:
No awkward posing.
No bossing people about.
No pretending weddings are calm and quiet when they’re clearly not.
Just honest, documentary-style wedding photography for people who want to actually enjoy their day and leave the photo part to me!

Mythe Barn, Blackbrook Barns & The Places That Felt Like Home
I found myself returning to some absolute favourites in 2025. Mythe Barn and Blackbrook Barns featured heavily – and for good reason.
They’re the kind of venues that attract couples who want:
- great food
- stunning photo locations
- loads of fun
- and a dancefloor that gets busy early
Basically, my kind of people.
These venues feel relaxed without being boring, polished without being stiff, and that energy always filters straight into the photos.

Here’s the truth: 2025 gave me breathing space. And instead of panicking about a quieter season, I leaned into it.
I photographed weddings that felt right. I said yes to couples I genuinely connected with. And when I had time off, I didn’t just put my feet up, I trained as a wedding registrar in Staffordshire.
Which means I spent part of 2025 wearing a different hat. You’d find me at the front of ceremonies, fountain pen in hand, guiding couples through their vows and signing the registers that make it all official.
So when I say I understand weddings – from nerves, to timing, to emotions – I really mean it. I’ve seen it from both sides now.
It’s been a wake up call in lots of ways and it’s paid off in my wedding photography – I’m seeing things from the front of the room that I might not have noticed before when my lens was trained on the couple.
Eyes wide open from now on!

From Signing the Register to Shooting the Dancefloor
Being a registrar has made me look at the ceremony with a completely different mindset…
I know when the important moments are coming.
I know when to step in, and when to disappear.
And I understand just how much those few words and signatures actually mean.
It’s also given me a deeper appreciation for the quieter parts of the day – the hand squeezes, the deep breaths, the “oh wow, we’re married” looks – before the party kicks off and everything gets gloriously chaotic.
And yes… I still absolutely live for the chaos.

This year I’ve been introduced to The Peg Game (not new exactly but definitely big in 2025!), I’ve had to hold back the tears with crying grooms and crying Dads (my Kryptonite!), I’ve tied bows, chased veils, zipped dresses, had a close call with a goat and vacuumed confetti from the car more times than I’d care to remember.
I’ve roped kids into being my assistant at pretty much every wedding (a sure fire way to get them to join in on the group shots), eaten some of the most incredible food (thankyou so much to all of my couples for keeping my fuel levels high!) and photographed the most beautiful, kind, funny, generous couples (and the cutest dog – hello Toby!)
I don’t say it lightly but I’m very, very thankful for you all!

Weddings for People Who Want Fun, Not a Photoshoot
Most of my 2025 couples told me the same thing:
“We just want it to feel relaxed.”
Music to my ears.
If you hate having your photo taken, feel awkward posing, or just want to hang out with your friends instead of disappearing for hours on end, this is exactly where I thrive.
I photograph weddings as they happen. The moments you don’t even realise are happening.
The laughs. The tears. The terrible dance moves – if your tie ends up around your forehead after the first dance, we’re going to get on like a house on fire!
Of course I’ll take you off for some gorgeous couple portraits, nothing stiff, nothing awkward, and definitely nothing that eats into your day!
Throw in a golden hour and I might keep you there for a few more minutes while I get very excited and start talking like a 70’s snapper with some “Oh My God, so gaaaawjus” lines 😉
But really, it’s all about a relaxed wander, some laughs, some time together away from the mayhem and photos that feel like you, then it’s straight back to your guests and your party while I keep quietly capturing everything else.

Party-Loving Couples, You’re Still My Favourite
What a weird and wonderful year of weddings this was, And quieter year or not, one thing didn’t change in 2025 – the parties were EPIC!
Bouncing dancefloors.
Hands in the air.
Shoes (and the afore-mentioned ties) abandoned by 8pm.
That one song that absolutely no one can resist.
If your wedding plans involve good music, great people and a general “let’s just have the best time” attitude, we’re already on the same page.

Looking Ahead: 2026 & 2027, I’m Ready for You
2025 wasn’t about doing more.
It was about doing what felt right.
And heading into 2026 and 2027, I’m more confident than ever in the weddings I want to be part of – and the couples I work best with.
If you’re planning a wedding and you want:
- a relaxed, documentary-style wedding photographer who also gets way too excited at the prospect of stunning golden hour portraits 😉
- someone based in the Midlands who’ll travel anywhere
- a terrible dancer that gets stuck into the dancefloor action, camera in hand
- and photos that are very definitely a proper reflection of your day
Then I’d love to hear from you.
Bookings for 2026 and 2027 are open, and this year is already busier than last so don’t delay!
Get in touch, tell me what you’re planning, and let’s get this big beautiful ball rolling!

How to make me happy : More love. More confetti. More epic dancefloors.
Happy 2026!
xxxx
PS One final photo because it’s very rare I get a photo with my couples but it’s definitely something I’m going to start doing more often.
Meg and Josh and a very tired and happy me before I left the dancefloor and toddled off home for a hot water bottle and a G&T (standard!).
Just missing Toby. But what a day at Blackbrook! Thanks for championing me for the whole of 2025!
