Lapstone Barn Wedding in The Cotswolds
This was one of my first weddings of 2019 and what a brilliant way to kick off an amazing wedding season!
Lapstone Barn in the Cotswolds is the most beautiful place for a wedding and with completely unseasonal sunshine and totally tropical temperatures for April, Rhi and Nick, couldn’t have chosen better!
Starting the day at Rhiannon’s friends family home, a beautiful stone cottage in Chipping Camden where Rhi and the girls had spent many happy days as children, her and her bridesmaids set the scene for a truly memorable day with brilliant breakfasts, bottomless champagne top-ups and dancing to the Spice Girls – more of that to come later!

I love a wedding in a village where the bride and groom both grew up. When all of the locals come together to get a glimpse of the bride and the oohs and aah are in full force!
I find it all quite emotional to be honest and it’s such a beautiful, warm and friendly start to the day 🙂

Broadway Tower
On the way to Lapstone Barn, we stopped off for a few photos at Broadway Tower, which, with it’s gorgeous scenic views overlooking the whole of The Cotswolds, was the perfect place for their first set of portraits.
Rhiannon looked so beautiful and although it was a lovely sunny Saturday and quite busy up there, we somehow managed to ignore the crowds of well wishing tourists and enjoy the gentle breezes which gave us aaaaall the wind machine feels with blowing veils, floating wisps of hair and the perfect touch of romance to start their day in style!

Lapstone Barn Wedding Venue
This was my first wedding at Lapstone and it didn’t disappoint!
The setting was immense, the staff were so relaxed, the food looked, smelt and tasted incredible and to be surrounded by these beautiful fields of vibrant yellow made my heart sing just a little bit more than was completely necessary! 😉

Lapstone Barn doesn’t need much styling to look beautiful but Rhiannon and Nick’s decorations just added to the elegant glamour of the day.
I loved their hoops on the tables and walls along with the little hanging glass balls adding just a little touch of sparkle.

Rhi’s brother Oli was the MC for the wedding breakfast, starting proceedings with a game for all the guests and introducing the bride and groom to raucous cheering!
The speeches were very emotional with lots of tears and plenty of belly laughs and the guests all loved being table chefs with chef’s too!
There was some competitive singing and dancing between tables and lots of napkins being waved and thrown in the air, it was a dream to shoot!

Golden Hour
Now, we all know by now that I get a little over excited when we get a golden hour on a wedding day! That beautiful light saw me pulling Rhi and Nick out of Lapstone and into the surrounding fields to make the most of the beautiful light.
Rhiannon has since told me that she’s so glad that we did that as the time away from the wedding chaos was the perfect way to have a breather together before the evenings party kicked off.
I’m always happy to oblige if it means extra photo time and at this time of day, you’ll have sunk a few glasses of fizz and posing up a storm will come a lot more naturally! 😉

These girls sure know how to party and started the evenings festivities with a choreographed dance to the Spice Girls – Wannabe.
It was one of the best first dances I’ve ever photographed at a wedding! It was pretty much perfect, which if you think about it, is even more impressive after a wedding breakfast full of vino and champers!

I love a barn wedding and Lapstone is a stunning place! I can’t wait to go back so if you’re planning a wedding there (or anywhere else where you can party up a storm!) you can get in touch with me right here and tell me all about it!
