I’ve never been to Aberdovey before but after shooting this lovely wedding there, I can see why so many people rave about this beautiful little town and I know that we’ll be paying another visit there before long.
From the moment we arrived the day before the wedding, it was clear to see why Kath and Tim had chosen to tie the knot here. Tim is from the area anyway but the spectacular views, stunning old church and lovely, welcoming locals made this an easy choice!
The church was under repair and covered in scaffolding but even though this probably wasn’t the vision they had for their nuptials, it just served to add to the atmosphere of the day and everyone got on with making the best of the still beautiful building. Remember the Friends episode with Ross and Emily’s wedding venue ? Think along those lines 🙂
Kath arrived on foot sheltering under a brolly to a cheering crowd of locals waiting opposite the church with the biggest grin on her face and that smile didn’t leave for the rest of the day.
Tim’s Dad drives a stunning vintage car and we took a little drive from the church to the reception venue in Pennal – Glan Yr Afon Riverside Hotel, via the beach. The rain had just fallen and left us bathed with beautiful light to shoot in. Everything was perfect and we were even joined by a few canine companions bounding along the beach who very kindly didn’t jump up Kath’s wedding dress!
The party was a riot and I joined in for a little while but it’s hard to dance with cameras banging around your hips so I gave in to the tiredness and picked up wee Frankie (her and my husband had joined me for the weekend and had very kindly been invited to the evening do) and we headed back to our little rental for a well earned rest.
The next morning, I was up bright and early with a post-wedding-buzz so me and Frankie walked down to the beach to see the sun rise over the estuary.
What better way to say goodbye to a lovely place, a lovely weekend and a lovely couple 🙂
The morning started with a little walk along the beach with an usher, a flower girl and a page boy 🙂 On the way back to our little rented cottage we bumped into Kath getting some early morning prep and the day started from there !
